Better watch where your pregnant wife goes... some idiot actually shot a pregant woman! There's no motive for the crime released. This is really maddening how stupid people can be.

She was sitting in a car when she was shot so I don't think the shooter probably realized she was pregnant - but that still doesn't make it okay! Her boyfriend was shot too and last I heard he was in the hospital.

Another felon out on early release goes out and commits murder. The judicial system has some blame to share in this one for letting the guy out after 1 yr. of a 5 yr. sentence.

Hope this completes his "3 strikes". Part that gets me is that there is no mention in the article about charges of "felon in possession of a firearm".

KC's "crime alley" claims another 2 victims. Sad but predictable.

The fetus counts if it is considered "viable," meaning it could've survived outside the womb.

I'm guessing this guy intended to kill the driver (probably drug related... most are), then capped the pregnant passenger to get rid of a witness. Fortunately, he didn't see the third person in the back seat, which has already led to an arrest. The lookout has been arrested, and the shooter has been identified, but remains on the loose.

Missouri weapon laws are very clear about self defense. If you own a firearm to use in self defense it would be a good idea to take the Missouri conceal carry course from a qualified instructor to lean more about the law and your options/responsibilities.

I think your best bet for safety is to simply educate yourself about where the bad areas are and stay far, far, far away them. Outside of that I don't stop for random people on roadsides, I will call the highway department or local police department to go see if they need any roadside assistance. I have security systems on everything I own (house, cars, etc.). It's amazing how few people take the most basic precautions to prevent problems in the first place such as moving to a good neighborhood, not driving through seedy areas, etc. An ounce of prevention is truly worth a pound of cure.
