So I'm visiting a friend in KC. We're a younger crowd, mid 20's. But something we thought that might be fun would be to go to some event or dinner to give us a reason to dress up. Not really wanting formal formal dress but fashionable dress if that might mean anything. Any Recommendations?

What area of KC are you visiting? Do you know what area you want to go out to?

And what do you have in mind to do for fun? Dancing? Concert event? Socializing? Looking at art?

If you just want to get dressed up and go out to dinner, you can do that on the Plaza or Crown Center and you won't look out of place. Same is probably true in the P&L district, although you can also be more casual in any of those places if you choose. There are also some great places downtown, like The Majestic where you can get a nice dinner and listen to jazz.

Tell more about what you have in mind and you will get more detailed responses from others here.

Well, that's just the thing.. We don't exactly know what we want to do. I've been to the area once (already had a blast at P&L) but she doesn't know much availability for events outside her general area. Around the club/bar scene down town and shopping districts. So I was just hopping on here to see what other people might recommend or their experiences. And to answer your question and beat around the bush, Concert/Socialize/Food/Art are great ideas. =) Time frame looking at is this Thursday through Sunday

Check out what's going on.

KC offers a wide variety of shows, concerts, theater etc.

The Midland by AMC is an awesome venue that is booking more and more shows. But there are also Broadway plays, concerts etc going somewhere on at any given day.

I like to take out of towners to Skies myself. Skies is a revolving restaurant 42 stories up on top the Hyatt Hotel.

You can go there for dinner, or just for a drink after a concert or play. You can be causal or dress up and won’t be out of place, but you will really feel like you are in an upscale place and the views of the city are amazing.

It’s a great way to introduce KC to yourself or others.
