Hi. I am a 31 yr. old single professional and am thinking about moving to Kansas City. Since I'm from the east coast (living in Charleston, SC now) I don't know anything about good places to live, nightlife, and just the general picture. Could anyone help me out? Thanks!

What kind of lifestyle do you want? Urban, suburban? Do you plan to rent or own? What kind of housing do you prefer? Single family? rowhouse? apartment? condo? highrise? Do you want more of a nightlife area or upscale area or just a quite area? Do you like new stuff or old stuff?

I have been in a suburban setting and wouldn't mind a more urban feel. i will proably rent first,condo preferably, but I'm open to other types of housing. I'm tired of the suburbanlifestyle with all the families and chain resturants and would like an area with some nightlife,places to go grab a drink or something to eat after work.The happy hour scence here in Charleston is dead.I love sports,sports bars. hope i answered enough for you!thanks!!

you need to be careful about crime in K.C. it's pretty high. Alot of locals will pretend that it's not high and then others will act like it's the worst in the world.
Neither is true. But it is much higher than in Charleston, that's a fact. When looking for places you wanna get on the kc police dept crime map, that's really important in this city in my opinion.
lots of nice places everywhere, not saying that there aren't, but having come here from a place with far less crime, it is an adjustment you have to make...
