I work at a hotel and business is bad. its getting slower and slower each year. I need new surroundings! looking to apply for some server positions in some local places around town. Im a bellman now and my average is about $20-$35 a day $70 max. We rarely see $100 days anymore. If anyone has any info on the average Tip income of a restaurant server in the Kansas city area that would really help me figure out if the switch will be worth it!!

Depends on the restaurant. If you work at a high end restaurant, I would say the switch would be worth it. Why not try to get a part time job serving just to see how it goes and then decide whether to do it full time, realizing that the regular servers are going to get the best shifts and you'll have to take the one they don't want at first.

Do you get an hourly wage plus tips, I assume? I assume your hourly wage is more than a server's hourly wage? If so, you'd need to factor that in.

After checking with several people in the industry, the plaza is a great place to wait tables. Pretty much always busy! Good luck!
