Me and my family are moving there in a couple months and was wondering about the schools, medical, and how it is in general. People are not very friendly here and i have several children. Just looking for a nice change. Thanks for your input

It's better than the Twin Cities MN. Minnesota is a very liberal state and people happy in liberal states/cities are the same ones who are not the friendly. Just a face. MO/KS and KC metro is more conservative thus more friendly than what you are leaving. You'll be happy here.

Speaking of generalizations and stereotypes. The Midwest as a whole in terms of social culture is more similar than different.

What? What insane stereotypes. Also Kansas City is quite liberal so even if your weird conclusion were true, it would be moot.

OP, i've never been to KC but the people here tend to be very nice and helpful, and hospitable, no idea how it would compare to MN though. Have you looked at any jobs? Preference in a kind of neighborhood? (suburb vs urban, house vs apartment, budget etc?) It will be easier to give info, if we knew a little more.

So now I understand! Just kidding haha.

Yea, OP needs to provide way more details. Where they might work, what lifestyle they want etc.

I actually find people in the midwest to put on more of a show (friendly, wave etc,) while people in larger cities just are what they are and they come across as more aggressive or unfriendly. My wife is from rural mid Missouri and everybody waves and smiles, but they have no problem talking about you or being racist etc when you turn your back. In larger cities, people may not wave or seem friendly, but they also don't care as much if your black, what church you go to etc.

In the end, in reality most people are pretty similar though and friendly once you get to know them no matter where they are from.

Central KCMO is liberal, but the suburbs and rural areas of the states of MO and KS are more conservative than similar areas in MN.

Overall difference between the cities would be minimal though unless you are one of these hard core political types.

Whoops

I think that face value friendliness/ behind your back hate is more common to rural communities in general regardless of region.

Phoenix, a much larger city than MSP or KC, is a much friendlier place than either city, also a conservative city in a conservative state. Conservatives are more friendlier than liberals. Could be because conservatives are more sane, grounded, genuine people than liberals.

You're still making pretty sweeping incorrect statements, explain your "theory" on a country level, and how socialist and liberal countries such as Canada, Sweden and France (outside of Paris) tend to have more welcoming and open people than conservative countries like China, Saudi Arabia and the US? Stop making dumb stereotypes.

But, this is a complete digression of the conversation, the OP didn't even ask your opinion on why you think KC is friendlier.
