I am planning my wedding. Looking to have around 130 guest. I have several venues in mind that I have fallen in love with, but none of them seem to be reasonable in prices.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that I could possibly use.

So a little about what i'm looking for:

-cheap. less than $2000
-downtown kc
-one building (inside) where I can have both my ceremony and reception there
-preferably with exposed brick walls/or some history behind it

and also if anyone has any ideas about alcohol or other ways to cut some corners ($), I'd greatly appreciate the advice/words of wisdom

Thank you in advance!!

I just planned a 160-guest wedding in KC, and Less than $2,000 for a venue for that number guests is something you are going to find somewhat challenging, even if the wedding is in the off season. We found a venue that was $3500 because it was off-season, which was by far the least expensive that met our needs (It was also an mostly all-inclusive package, the cost included open bar). It met all of your criteria except for being downtown. But it was the least expensive venue I found, and generally by quite a bit. There may be places that are not typically used as reception venues that may run you less if you know the right people, but for places that are in the business of events/receptions, it might take some serious time and effort to hit the number you've budgeted. What's your timeline like? The downtown/crossroads area has quite a bit of rougher, industrial gallery space that might be used for a reception of you know who to contact. I'm not sure about capacity for that many guests, or food prep facilities if you're dong a meal, but possibly worth looking into?

Our venue was our largest expense, though, and we really did a good job of trimming expenses in pretty much all other areas, from invitations to photographer, to catering, to cake, to gown (I even scored a a designer gown for $0)...a big combo of creativity, DIY, and really good connections. Feel free to direct message me if you'd like to talk.

Your Magical Day has the best chapel in Kansas City. It's inside a townhouse but we got married there and we tell all our friends now. It was only $100 and they were the nicest people ever, and the chapel was just beautiful!

I was going to suggest Urban Farmhouse at 1107 Hickory (west bottoms), but apparently they are out of business. Strange, cause I was just at a wedding/reception there a few months ago.
