Moving from where? There are apparently a lot of health industry related jobs as it just keeps growing and has never seen a decline in KC. The rest of the job market is just avg though, not like 'hot' cities (Denver, Seattle, DC, Dallas). Most cities are far worse off than KC (see the GMP thread). The unemployment continues to be better than national average, which is odd because there are a _lot_ of people moving here w/out a job lined up.

As far as new things since 2006, most of the new stuff to do is downtown (quite a bit) and the urban core continues to evolve. Downtown looks relatively more lively since 2006 and is growing with residents. Western KCK is rolling with suburban style entertainment/shopping - has changed a lot since 2006 if that kind of thing is for you. N KC continues to grow and add retail. The rest of the burbs probably hasn't changed a whole lot since 2006. Are you interested in city or burbs?

Suburbs. When I last lived there I lived in Grandview. But now I'm thinking of North Kc or Overland Park area.

OP hasn't seemed to change much in last 5 years. Take a look at KC North as Barry Rd area continues to explode with retail and lower cost housing. OP still is king of high end retailers though (like Nordstroms, etc). Kids?

Olathe, Lee's Summit, North KC have grown like gangbusters since 2006 as has the downtown loft & business districts. Sadly, northern OP (N. of 435) is going the way of KC did in the 70's with many dying strip malls and just an overall junky appearance from failure to maintain, IMO.

^I agree it definitely looks worse than it did 8 years ago when I first visited the area.

Hopefully I'll be back soon. I left in '96. Downtown looks good,
better than when I left.

Downtown is looking really good compared to what it was 25 years ago. Parts of it are unrecognizable as they once again are vibrant and re-built. It's a good thing.

I moved TO Kansas City in 2007, and in the time since then, even I've seen a lot of changes.
