I've been thinking of making a big move and relocating. Don't have a certain place in mind, I guess where I get the job is where I'd move. I have a job now, but i've always been interested in living in another part of the country. Been in MN my whole life.

Just curious what the process was like for people who have done it. I know more goes into it then just typing something in careerbuilder.com and doing a nationwide search. Explain the process and how you got the job. Thanks.

How about trying OK Cupid or eHarmony?

Find some *other* reason to pick a place and then focus on the jobs there...
(if the person you find isn't able or willing to support you)

Basically you just don't sort job search results by location.

But the bigger problem will be your resume--most companies won't give you a moment's thought unless you've got a local address and preferably local experience too. You can overcome this somewhat by co-opting a local address (a relative's or a made-up one) or by indicating in your cover letter that you are already planning to relocate and will be available to work on such-and-such date. But it's hard to see how you could do either of these for every city; most likely you'll have to narrow your search down to a select few cities.
