If you have any call centers near you, go and apply in person. the turnover is quite high, they are always hiring---a few months and you will see why! But hey, its a job...
And do go and apply in person. you will see them advertised all over job boards, etc, but they never look at those applications, that's just to say they considered a broad range of applicants.
I worked for a call center, I sat near the door, I saw a constant stream of applicants walk in. They were interviewed on the spot, many hired the same day.
Be prepared to be hired, bring everything you need, like social security card, proof of citizenship, be prepared to fill out your application, have all your information, like phone numbers, addresses, etc. The more prepared you are, the more likely they will be to hire you. They just want somebody, just about anybody will do, as long as you're minimally competent.
Its an overall lousey job, but a survival job. And, you can really get hired by applying in person, I've seen it happen. Also, dress nicely. It usually pays around $10-$12/hour, plus they do offer benefits, but you usually can't afford them.
