Lots to do around the beach. If you have a car, head to Riverside. I think that's the best area around. Right next to downtown (but that shuts down around 5pm)

Lots to do at the beach and get your drunk on. The area around beach and 1st street there are several bars you can walk to, the bricks, the ritz, ocean club and many more all right by each other.

And please, if you do have a car, please DO NOT drive to riverside to get your drunk on. Stay with in walking distance. Have fun.

Thanks parks. We are intentionally NOT renting a car to ensure we don't get into that kind of trouble, appreciate the concern.

There are definitely plenty of bars at the beach. The places parks 71 mentioned are the same ones I would have said. Crowds mostly in their 20's I'd say. Not sure where you're coming from, but the beaches bars tend to be pretty casual just as an FYI. I'll warn you though, no hats- they'll make you walk back to your car (or hotel or wherever) because you can't bring it inside.

no hats?!?! meaning baseball hats? that's just strange. well, we're not in our 20's, both in our 30's so not looking for a frat party type bar, just a cool hangout or a band, and most importantly, as mentioned a few times already, in walking distance.

Btw, the clubs I mentioned are dance clubs. There is a club if you walk north a few blocks on 1st street that usually has a live band playing. I just cant think of the name right now but you cant miss it. Maybe someone can chime in but its a laid back bar that does not play dance music.
