We may be moving to Jacksonville with our three kids ages 5, 9 and 16. We know you get out of school what you put into it and kids do much better when parents are involved however there are those school districts that make it difficult to succeed when there is a problem with crime and poor academics. KC has been near a state take over for some time now but luckily my kids are in another district in the metro area. The elementary and middle schools in our district are pretty good here but the highschools are not. Any advice as to which schools or districts to avoid would be much appreciated. Please be objective and try not to base your choice on one bad experience because I think we all have those from time to time. My husband will be running his own business and location or distance is not a factor. Thanks for your help!!

On the whole, Clay and St Johns County schools rate higher, but there are certain sections of Duval County schools that are on par with those other counties. If you want to live in Jacksonville, then check the schools in Mandarin, Southside and Beaches areas.
