Happy New Year to all Jacksonville CD folks also!
We had a nice/quiet New Years Eve (that sometimes happens when you get to that 60 age mark)......we had oven baked chicken, I had a beer and wife had a small bottle of champagne. We were in bed/asleep by 9:15PM and didn't even wake up to see 2009 come in! We have been packing for a move to Jacksonville/Southside area next week and were completely "pooped"!
Again, Happy New Year everyone!!

Happy New years to you both

We also had a quiet evening
lol I overbaked the ham I made oops hopefully our company today won't really notice

sorta dozed off and on but we were awake to watch " the ball fall"

My one New Years resolution is going to be cutting back on caffeine I had gotten to where I only had it once or twice a week when we went out but now am back to everyday a couple times a day

So from now on I will be just buying Caffeine free diet pepsi for the house

Happy New Year to everyone!
My New Years resolutions include: cutting back on junk food, exercising, putting an end to procrastination, and getting out there -- not only to meet people but to also get involved in things.

My New Year's Eve was kinda crazy... I had family in from out of town. We gathered yesterday afternoon to go to the Gator Bowl Parade. Afterward, we had seafood for dinner. I also went out to ring in the new year, even though the bars were crowded, I still had a good time.

How is the gator bowl parade? I'm totally ignorant...I think the only parades I've ever been to besides the *annoying* ones at Disney World was a July 4th parade in a small town (Sewannee, TN) that I was at for a summer camp many years ago. It completely baffles me why people might enjoy viewing parades. I don't mean to bash the idea, I just know that it's not for me and so I have no capacity to judge them.

So, that said, to all you parade fans, how is the Gator Bowl one? Just curious how it stacks up to big ones in other cities.

Oh, and Happy New Year's! I don't think I have a resolution...well, actually, I was just thinking I should resolve to check CD no more than twice a day from now on.

We're currently in Philly but we bought some take-out, iced tea and went to the Camden NJ waterfront to watch the fireworks from the other side. The Philly side is just too crowded and you have to park blocks away and walk to Penn's Landing. It was CCCOOOOLLLDDD!!!

From Camden, you drive up to the waterfront parking lot and watch from your car. The fireworks look like they are almost above your head! It was awesome!

Is there a fireworks display in J-Ville?

BTW, what was the temp out there last night?

The Gator Bowl Parade has bands from different schools including the ones playing in the Gator Bowl, floats from area businesses and organizations, some character balloons, and some prominent local professionals and "beauty queens" riding in cars. The parade also usually has the Shriners riding around in little cars, but the Shriners had pulled out of this year's parade due to a dispute over which ones and how many of them were allowed to participate.

I've only been here 2 years so I'm not a fan on anything "Philly", which is why I am leaving.

Well, again, I did find a great cheese steak place called Dallesandro's near me but that's it.
