Oooh. The oogie boogie man must be about.

Here's a Burma Shave ad for Jacksonville.

For a very bad time,
If you need a good scare
The northern city in Florida
Is waiting right there.
...Jacksonville

Okay, how about this one:

Jacksonville- it is what you make of it.

Okay, so there is agreement that Jax has an identity crisis. This opinion is shared by many on CD and in RL. So.....maybe what should be done is to use our lack of identity as a strength, touting that fact that we have something for everyone. So my for real suggestion for our tagline is:

Jacksonville- We're not one size fits all

Interesting thread; here is how Zillow.com describes JAX:

Who Lives Here?
1. Scrappy Homeowners - Homeowning urban singles with low income. Pre-middle-age to middle-age singles on a lower to middle income who own their own home. Some have a college education and work in services and the professional sector.
2. Ramen Metros - Lower-income urban singles. Most rent their apartment or condo. Some have a college education and work in services and the professional sector.
3. Stretched Budgets - Lower-scale urban couples with children. Mixed educational status with some having a high school education and some college. Combined income low-to-moderate.
In this neighborhood, a larger number of people have these characteristics than in surrounding neighborhoods:
Education
• Bachelor's degrees
• Did not complete high school
Employment
• Work in office and administrative support occupations
People & Culture
• Born in the South
• Born in this state
• Divorced females
• Single males
Transportation
• Carpool to work
• Drive to work alone

You can drill down on the site to specific neighborhoods for more refinement of the demographics, but this is the net overall description of the city.

I wonder who those females divorced if the males are still single?

Actually, I find zillow.com not only insulting, but also quite incorrect across the board --- and not just Jacksonville - I did some searches on other places I've lived or places I know, and its demographics aren't true descriptions. I wonder where zillow extracted the statistics to come up with such things? How much of a sampling was used to create the sweeping inaccurate generalities? It's too bad because the zillow site presents a lot of real estate factual information at the fingertips (or at least it seems to).

lets see the house next door to me is for sale
according to zillow it is on the other side of the neighborhood
they also say my house is a few hundred sq ft bigger

So needless to say I wouldn't take the info they post to the bank

Good morning, Karla and everyone else! I have to chime in and say, as a person who is trying to gather information via the internet so I can find my new hometown in Florida, zillow often posts information that is incorrect. It can be quite frustrating.
