We just recently moved from AZ, and I'm looking to sign my 6 yr old daughter up for T-ball.

At home we were involved with the girls side of Little League. Any recommendations? We're in the intracoastal area.

Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and Ft. Caroline all have girls softball little league teams.

Atlantic Beach has a very nice league. Everyone is very nice and things are civil. Both of my boys are there and I have coached there as well.

I've heard good things about Ft. Caroline but I have no direct experience with them.

I've also heard Jax Beach has a nice league as well but, again, I have no direct experience with them.

I've had two daughters play softball. The first one at Atlantic Beach, and the second at Fort Caroline, once they started up their own league. Also coached them for a couple of years.

Honestly, both leagues are about the same. And the same goes for the Jax Beach league too.
Based on what I've seen, you could probably be ok selecting the location and league that's closest for you.

Because the total qty of girls participating in softball isn't nearly as high as for boys with baseball, the scheduling is a little different for softball. With the boys baseball, Atlantic Beach might have 5-6 of their own teams. Fort Caroline is a little larger, and might have 6-8 of its own teams, in each age group. So, you end up playing most of your games at the same location, against other baseball teams from the same league.

However, for softball, they generally will only have 1 or 2 teams in each age group. That means, for the most part you'll be driving around the city, in order to find games to play. So, even if you pick Atlantic Beach, you're still going to spend a lot of time driving to Jax Beach and Ft. Caroline, in order to play their teams.

Our league at home was big. So that's a bit of a difference. I noticed some of the leagues had boys and girls playing together. I'm not so sure how my dd would feel about that. I know I don't mind. But I don't want her to like the game less because of it. Dd loved playing, and I'd definitely like to get her back into it. We played last Spring at home, but took this fall off since we had just moved.

Does anyone have any experience w/the mixed boys and girls teams? I picture in my head there being more boys than girls.

Do you have a name for any of these leagues that I could look up?

I've always seen girls playing baseball although it's always predominately boys. Never really seen a problem for the most part.

The Atlantic Beach league is the ABAA. -->clicky<--

I don't know the official names of the other leagues.

Here's Ft. Caroline and Jax Beach.
