It was the size of a leaf and I ran over it yesterday driving into my driveway. My son just called and saw another one run over in the street- a different kind.

Anyone else finding little turtles around? I'm wondering if it's the rain, as I have never seen any anywhere except in the lake.

(These aren't sea turtles, BTW)

I saw one dead turtle, and my husband moved a live one.....maybe they have to come to higher ground too?

Had another snake in the yard also (unfortunately, he didn't make it past the dog ).

It makes sense - lots of rain, lots of displaced creatures looking for shelter.

Yesterday, as I was driving to Publix, the cars in front of me suddenly stopped.
I saw a GIGANTIC freshwater turtle attempting to cross the street.
It was huge, at least 14 inches long, and almost as wide.
A teenager got out of the passenger side in the car in front of me, and carefully carried it back to the pond from where it probably emerged. It scooted back down to the water.
I was wondering if some of these critters are a bit waterlogged and/or displaced, and are merely looking for some air and sun.
