This sounds like a great way to kill a few hours on Sunday and learn some things

Agreed. Also - Saturday is the last day of the Clay County Fair as well (my favorite county fair in the JAX metro area). Robyn

We went today. Did anyone else?

It was really fun. Unfortunately - due to the driving distances involved (these are after all farm and animal product production places in rural areas) - and the limited hours (1-5) - and the fact that the places we stopped at were interesting - certainly worth at least 30-45+ minutes - we were only able to hit 3 places in central and southern St. Johns County. A goat place - a hydroponic plant production place - and a potato farm.

My hats are off to the organizers - and I hope this becomes an annual event. There were 24 or so places on the tour this year. If it becomes an annual event - we'll need 5+ years to hit them all .

I did find out that Hastings has revived its Cabbage and Potato Festival - and it is set for Saturday May 7 this year. For those of you who who have never been - the potato harvest starts next week - and early May is the peak. Not only can you get farm fresh produce at the festival - there's lots of good food. Including some of the best "church lady" sweet potato pie you'll find in the area (if our past history at the festival is any indication). And for those of you who live in St. Johns County - this is the kind of festival where you'll have a good chance of meeting and greeting and talking to your local politicians. Robyn

We were there - Blue Sky Farm. And the promo material said he was 4th generation . Did you dig up any potatoes? When we took the tour - he said the last 2 years were really really bad (although not a total loss) - but this year was looking ok as of today. There's only 1 crop/harvest a year at this place - so it really sucks if the crop/harvest is lousy. Robyn

Glad you had a good time . I would have liked to check that place out - but it was about 70 miles one way from places I wanted to see in St. Johns County (where I live).

FWIW - you can find Twinn Bridges at the Neptune Beach farmers' market (reckon other places as well). Robyn

It was a lot of fun. We made four visits in St Johns County. It helped that we live two miles from one of the farms.
