We will be relocating to JAX in a few months. I would like to know which area is better regarding schools and crime. In Mandarin area - Loretto Elementary vs. Julington Creek, Julington Creek Elementary.

Julington Creek Elementary is excellent!

We've only lived here for about six months. Not long enough for me to be anything close to an expert on the area. But long enough for me to know that I wouldn't want to live in Mandarin.

We love Julington Creek! The schools are great and the community is very safe.

We've been here a year and we also enjoy the Julington Creek area. My children are not yet in Kindergarden, but everyone in my neighborhood raves about JCE. Also the parents on my child's soccer team speak highly of Durbin Creek Elem.

I live in Mandarin and the schools have A ratings. Go to GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community to search it out. Loretto & Greenland Pines elem are good, Twin Lakes academy Midd and there is a BRAND new Atlantic Coast High school in the Mandarin/southside area,, which is convenient to everything. 15 min to downtown, 20 min to the beach, 25 min. to the airport, Malls are 5-15 min away, 15 min to NAS JAX, restaurants all over, nice churches, and lots of family type neighborhoods!!

I live in Mandarin.

One thing I notice is San Jose Blvd is always crowded with traffic going into St. Johns county (Julington Creek) in the afternoon, and going from St. Johns county on the weekends. Traffic is actually pretty bad so I try to avoid San Jose at all costs. That is the road that people use to come into Jacksonville and go back to the Julington Creek area.

I would prefer to avoid that traffic and just live in the Mandarin area.

We are looking to buy a property located in the subdivision of Timbertrace in Julington Creek. We have a kid on first grade. When I went to the St. Johns County School locator, it indicates that for houses in that location the school of attendance is Hickory Creek Elementary, which is located 6.5 miles away! Which makes no sense having Julington Creek Elementary located just 1 mile away...
Anyone that can confirm or explain if kids living at Timbertrace have to attend Hickory Creek Elementary?
Thank you!!!

We have been down here for 3 years and I would not beatup Mandarin especialy the part that is close to the St Johns line. Mandarin is very nice and has a bunch of things.
My kids go to JCE and FCM. Both excellent. JCP is a great place except the homes are way to close to each other

The district boundaries are weird over there. The ones on the website are the ones that are correct though.
