Jags are the most "unpopular" NFL team for the second year in a row, according to a recent poll.

I think this is ONLY because the media has been bashing the Jags and the entire city of Jacksonville for 6 straight years. I bet if the media didn't trash Jax so much during and after the Super Bowl and then trash the Jags in '08 and '09 so much, we would not be last. This is pathetic that the media has been so influential in destroying two great things: a great city and a great NFL team.

Jaguars Least Popular NFL Team

When you've had several losing seasons in a row, you should expect to get trashed, let alone rated as least popular team. When you're winning, folk are checking for you but when you fall off, they scatter like roaches. Jacksonville is a great city and I rep for it 100%, but the team needs to get it together. Forget the media, the city of Jacksonville rocks

The media has templates ... the template about the Jags concerns blackouts and/or too small a market to support an NFL team ... Jax hasn't had a blackout, but no national outlet talks about that fact ... if Jax has a blackout, it'll be headline news ... several other cities have had blackouts this season, but no one in the media is talking about Tampa/Oakland/Buffalo/San Diego moving to LA

Jaguars Least Popular NFL Team

- No history
- Small market
- Not extraordinarily exciting to watch (compartively speaking)
- Lack of big name stars (only 1, maybe 2)
- Mediocre of late
- Lack of nationally televised primetime games

=

Not much nationwide popularity.

Few, if any, franchises have this set of obstacles currently.

But no, the team ain't going anywhere in the foreseeable future.

Learn a thing or two about NFL ecomonics and the Waever's, and you'll quickly see that Jag football will be here for a while.

Other teams have had the same woes as us. There are a fair number of new teams in the NFL. There are other smaller markets, too (Buffalo who we just played is now smaller than our market). Yes we have been mediocre as of late, but we have never had the "worst" season in the NFL (usually just below middle).

I personally think that the media trashes the Jags AND the entire city (yes the sports media always loves to poke fun of the city, too) more than they trash other easy targets like Cleveland, St. Louis, Cincy, Oakland, Detroit, and a few other teams come to mind.

The only reason why residents of Jax know that some other cities like Tampa and St. Louis have had worse ticket woes this season than we had last season is because we have been earnestly waiting for other teams to take our place at the chopping block, and we have paid attention. The rest of the country most likely does not know that other cities are not selling tickets and they probably think we still can't sell out a game all because the sports media has too much selective bias in negative/positive spin.

It is true if we had one, just one, big name star that the media likes (even if our team as a whole stunk), we would be a media darling.

Buffalo has history. Cleveland has history, and it's larger. St. Louis has history, it's larger, and has a couple big names. Cincy has history, stars, and they've been pretty good of late, Oakland has history and is larger, Detriot has history is larger, and has some big name stars.

We're literally the only team to have this set of obstancles currently, but much of tha can change quickly if we win regularly, get soke big name guys, play a more exiciting brand of football - hich will lead t morenaitonal television exposure, and thus more popularity.

This a cool, new Jaguars website, btw: www.jagsonville.com

Jacksonville isn't a "big name" city, nor does the actual city get a lot of tourists. And hosting the Super Bowl here was sorta an embarrassment when no one had anywhere to stay & nothing to do.

You want them to not bash Jax? Make the city better.

Detriot has big name Stars?,really. Who are they? Anyway we only have ourselves to blame. The citizens really don't support the city itself. We've had poor leadership for decades and most citizens could care less about downtown much less the Jags. Years of bad drafting by Harris has taken its toll. If the Jaguars trade Harvey there will be no one left on the team from Harris drafts. You wont win many games like that. Also Jacksonville doesnt have to be a big name to be a great city. Put some good leaders in charge downtown and on the Jags organization and you'll see things turn around until then we are stuck with what we have. Anyway the team has some promising new players, but many holes still present. Go Jags,,I'll be there Monday night hoping for a win.

At least David Garrard was in the WSJ this week - fifth or so most unfashionable quarterback in the NFL . Robyn
