My boyfriend and I are planning to get married while visiting Jacksonville this November. It will be a small ceremony (we already have our own officiant) on the beach with a handful of guests, nothing formal. The only problem is that we have never been to the area before - can anyone give a good suggestion of nice beach areas to look into for the ceremony? It would be on a Saturday, probably early morning.

Just avoid the more crowded areas. Jacksonville Beach and Neptune beach will be relatively crowded. Ponte Vedra Beach and parts of Atlantic Beach will not.

Also, just a little bit to the North, Hanna Park, Amelia Island, Fernadina Beach would all do, while to the South, parts of St. Augustine Beach and Anastasia Island might work.

Note that you'll need an application/ permit to get married on the beach:

"The beaches are a beautiful place to hold a wedding ceremony. In Jacksonville Beach simply call 904-247-6268 for a Beach Wedding application and further information. In Neptune Beach call 904-270-2400, and in Atlantic Beach call 904-247-5800."

This is the link for St. Johns County (Ponte Vedra Beach - St. Augustine Beach - etc.) permits:

Note that the less crowded beaches generally have less parking. Robyn

Also look into the Casa Marina hotel in Jacksonville Beach. Great venue that has history and isn't too pricey or formal.

I think Big Talbot Island Park would be so picture perfect...going out Hecksher Drive (off 9A) it will be on the right just before the last bridge to Amelia Island. Beautiful vista overlooking the water from some shady wooded sections....check it out!

I second Talbot Island or nearby Huegnot Park. This the most scenic area of Jacksonville
