Here's a question for health professionals and community boosters:

Can you recommend a good, thriving, critical access (preferred) hospital in a nice small town in northern Iowa?

Depends a bit on your defintion of small town. Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa is an excellent hospital. Mason City may be a "small town" by some persons standards (it's around 30,000 residents), and a decent sized city to others...

Sartori Hospital is a small hospital in Cedar Falls. Although it is in the Waterloo area - it remains one of the smaller hospitals because of nearby Allen Hospital, and Covenant Hospital.

Even smaller than those. Those hospitals are considered medium sized short term acute care facilities. I'm looking for quality medicare designated critical access (25 bed) hospitals most likely in communties serving a population of 10K or less.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I really appreciate it.

Thanks,
disneyrecords

Check out the hospitals in Iowa Falls, Hampton, Clarion, Webster City, Britt, Osage or Algona. These are all the only hospital in their county - and are in rural areas/small towns.

Try Mercy Hospital of Franciscans Sisters in Oelwein. It has good nurses and Docs and has been said to have one of the best customer service.
