Hi I'm 20 years old (male) and live in Queensbury, NY. I've always wanted to travel outside of the Northeastern U.S., and I want to find an affordable apartment that I could live in by myself for 2-3 years. I plan on attending a 2 year community college in whichever state it comes down to, that would ideally be near the apartment I'd be staying in. I'd plan on moving within the next 6-8 months, and by then I'll have about $20,000 saved for traveling. I'm from a rural/suburban area of New York and I'd be looking for a similar area, geographically. Is there anywhere in Iowa that someone could give me infortmation on that would fit my criteria? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Also, sorry if I gave a lack of details or whatnot, I'm very new to traveling and just discovered this website today and thought it might help. Thank you in advance

Check out Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. Iowa Falls is a fairly small town situated on a very scenic portion of the Iowa River. I would imagine rents are reasonable in town. I've alwasy like Ellsworth Community College because the campus is very interwoven into the community. Most community colleges I see have more of a suburban shopping mall style campus - Ellswoth is not this way. It's very integrated within the town of Iowa Falls itself and is hard to discern where the campus starts or stops relative to the surrounding neighborhoods. They also have a nice, new student activity center (swimming, fitness center, coffee shop) on campus.
