Amazon has a 700 million dollar deal for 100,000 of their electric vans. Any idea when we can buy stocks?

Q: Rivian the next Tesla?

A: Nah. Their CEO isn't a whack-job.

Will it be a good stock purchase if it goes public?

This is what Tesla should've focused on initially - industrial applications that make sense for specific uses. My company bought a bunch of electric vehicles a decade ago and has made them viable.

Amazon invested during a round of funding that brought in $700 million.

The vans are negotiated separately. Would be foolish for the company to agree to 100,000 vans for $700 mil, that's $7,000 a piece.

do the vans have the ability to catapult packages to someones front door?

i would think that the big market will be the self driving trucks. that should rock the trucking industry.

They carry drones in the back that take off and leave them on porches.

I can't wait to watch drone hunting videos on YouTube!

Also if you look inside a UPS or Fedex truck there really aren't many packages that will be moved by a drone service. I can totally see some places they make a lot of sense and will cut down on cost and response time significantly. But carrying 70" TVs isn't going to be one of them...

Amazon is going to pay $7,000 per van. (100,000 vehicles X 7,000 each = $700M)

The vehicle cannot be built for that price.
