I'm in the US and work for a UK company. I have options in the company which I must "buy" before selling them on the FTSE. In March of this year i submitted all my paperwork and $2000+ to buy my shares (including a commission, "stamp tax" and other fees). For whatever reason, my company didn't get me my share certificates till late July....a few days after the share price tanked! I'm out the $2000+ because the share price is below what I paid for it. While I wouldn't be upset obviously if their feet dragging allowed me to sell at a higher price, do I have any case with them because the expected turnaround was 2-4 weeks (rather than months)? Just curious...
No chance of a settlement on value since you got the appropriate shares. I found dealing with certificates from the UK here in the States a real hassle with brokerage offices slow to get them deposited and sold. I was fortunate to hit a decent price but the timing over a four week period for the transaction was out of my hands.
