I recently deleted my facebook account as I am really over it. Anyone over it as well. It is fake, and found many of the people there pretentious or fake. I just sick of seeing the status updates of people there and many of it is just annoying. I found some so called friends there turn out there turn into jerks because of facebook.
In addition I found it a big time waister. If people want to contact me I much rather them phone me or email me.

I have never had a Facebook exactly for those reasons, that and I don't have any friends, at least none that I hate enough to annoy by being on Facebook.
I do have a LinkedIn account for business contacts, but that is locked down tight.
Also, as an FYI, your Facebook account is never deleted permanently. Facebook keeps it forever and ever. They just close your access to it.
