You'll have to wait a sec, there's a bigass image that needs to load

Sheesh - take it away PLEASE

(off to look for a Firefox plug-in to kill this one too . . . )

I have a google icon on my firefox bookmarks which is set to google advanced search. I like all the extra boxes (exact string, domain, etc) available by default.

Why go to Google' home page? IMO loading that page at all is just a waste of bandwidth. I enter searches in the search field at the upper right corner of my browser window. I probably don't see Google's home page once a month.

Only took a second.
It is only for today. They are showing a new feature that is available.
It will be back to "normal" tomorrow.

Yea, they are copying MS. Give MS a little credit, though. They are usually the ones following every one else. Rarely do they lead on anything anymore.

It's gone now.
It took mine about 10 seconds to load. Not horrible, but more of a lag than I like. I am on DSL.

I guess my problem is that google used to have a nice simple interface where I could go about my business without having unnecessary images load, or scripts running, or have Google following me all over the web. The page was not opt-in, it was the default. To get rid of it, or change it, you have to log in to your google account. So there's a privacy concern there.

Also, I enjoyed seeing the google doodle whenever they supplied one. Yes it was an image, but it was a small image that did not dominate my entire monitor.

I respect the fact that it doesn't bother most of you that answered here, to each his own. It just annoyed the hell out of me.

I get nothing but problems from google toolbar or any other toolbar. I uncheck those stupid toolbar installers every time I install software that 'partners' with one of them.

Firefox and IE both have built in search boxes that will search google if you tell it to, and it doesn't require adding an extra space-wasting, update-downloading, website-tracking toolbar.

great minds think alike

I don't like "toolbars" either - just extra BS cluttering up the browser.

Google toolbar is the only one I use. The HIGHLIGHT feature alone is worth it.

Don't get me wrong, if Google were keeping the "Bing-like" interface I would be annoyed. I can handle it for one day!
