30min to an hour depending on the time of day and location. VERY limited bus service and no rail trans yet, but hopefully in the future. There are some very nice neighborhoods located in Indianapolis proper that would cut your commute time down drastically.

I've driven downtown from each location, so let me see if I can remember. And of course it makes a difference where in those communities you are coming from.

Fishers - 30 minutes - at least if I-69 isn't backed up and when Super 70 is finished.

Carmel - 35 minutes - I think most people from their travel Meridian street

Westfield - 40 minutes.

Noblesville - 45-50 minutes.

If you are looking for a very nice suburb with the shortest commute to downtown, I would recommend Zionsville. That is 25 minutes and closer to the airport.

I don't know about Greenwood

Westfield-40 minutes in the morning, 50 minutes in the afternoon. Think of 66 from Gainesville to Vienna at around 3:30 PM. It's not quite as bad as DC but Fishers (69) gets pretty backed up in the afternoon.

Really? I just moved back to Indy in early April. I used to live in Parks at the Piedmont which is right by 29 and 55 just before 66 in Gainesville (VA Gateway shopping center). It's a small world. That's a nasty commute you got. Well, let me tell you, even if you end up living in Fishers, it won't be half as bad as that. I live in Westfield and don't mind the commute at all. Also the lights in Indy are not half as long as the lights in DC area, I'm sure you know what I mean! Let me know if you need anything else.

I don't know if I keep reading posts by the same people, but it looks like a bunch of people from NoVA are moving to Indy! Me included, hopefully.

Yup. There is a lot of people from DC/N. VA/ MD moving here. It's a small world. When are you coming to Indy? You'll love home prices compared to Northern VA, believe me.

It all depends on when I find a good job there. There don't seem to be that many in my field, so we'll see. Hopefully soon, though. We're planning a visit next month so that we can at least visit the city before deciding for sure that we want to move. I might search a bit more aggressively for a job afterwards.
I've seen the home prices and they look AWESOME! Unbelievable, really. A nice single-family home for less than we bought our townhouse 7 years ago!
