I love cold weather, I was born and half raised in Chile, where winters can be lower than 30 degrees in the morning, sometimes we even had snow

Thanks

Marina 1686,

I would like to give my input to you, since I did move to Indy from Florida in Sept 2009 and I must say I could not be happier with that decision.

Like yourself I detested Florida (I was on the west coast and south of St Pete). For many of the same reasons. slavery (low pay), rude and rude old people everywhere, no opportunity, cost of living designed for wealthy only, you know the rest, you are stuck there.

My experience moving here, I'm on the far south side is this:

1) It is a safe environment, although do your research on the areas not to live in (Crime in your neighborhood -- 2008) and if you are choosing to start out in an apt complex, be sure to visit it and then ask what people think of it because there are some not so good complexes. I got lucky and am very happy in mine.

2) People are courtious to each other. In driving and public social situations.

3) There is an honesty, intelligence, ability to articulate, friendliness and openness about the people that is refreshing. That is not to say they are nosy about you, but very genuine and kind.

4) Much to do that doesn't cost, as in Fla, an arm and a leg. Museums, live music and specialties (see meetup.com) for Indy.

5)The weather - I know you'll understand when I say I would prefer to have to wear my leather coat for 3 months and sometimes gloves, scarf and hat, than suffer 7+ months of constant unbearably high temps and WORSE humidity that if you go out at 3 a.m. naked you started sweating in 30 seconds.
Seriously though, I arrived in early fall, beautiful mild temps, a palette of colors of the trees. Now wonderful dusting of white snow covering the dark branches of the trees. Just great.

There is a saying you may or may not have heard. "No matter where you go, there you are." I came to Indy with a positive attitude after doing a lot of research and getting advice from the wonderful people on this site and am happy I did move here.

Whatever you and you're bf decide, I wish you the best of luck and feel free to ask questions.

There is a lot of info here using the search button.

Some other sites I found valuable are:

Jobs - https://www.indianacareerconnect.com/
(Also temporary job services I found good are Adecco on Meridian St. and ASAP Staffing in Plainfield)

Things to do - Fun Things To Do | Indianapolis Indiana

Apt Search - I used rent.com, although there are several you may know of.

Anyone once again, good luck, whatever you decide and feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Maybemover turned "moved to Indy"
