With the closing of Uno Pizza & Grill on 86th Street I no longer have a place to pick up a Chicago style pizza. I know that the Uno's chain wasn't nearly as good as the Uno's in Chicago but it was the best available.

Anyone know of any other pizza in the area that comes close to Chicago style?

Nancy's in Fishers. Nothing else in the Indianapolis area compares.

Nancy's Pizza in Fishers .... the only that even comes close. We trek there from down here if that tells you anything.

Thanks! That's two votes for Nancy's, so I will definitely try it.

I think pizza is the ONLY thing I miss about Chicago.

I would also suggest trying South of Chicago Italian beef and deep dish pizza. It is in Fletcher place on Virginia Ave between Fountain Square and DT.

Try Roselli's at 106/Michigan Road as they've got good deep dish pizza as does Ale Emporium at 86/Allisonville.

I say Union Jack's has the best (the crust is unbelievably good) but another good one is Chicago's Pizza (http://www.chicagospizzarestaurant.com/)which (broken link) just opened new locations on US31 South towards Greenwood and another off IN267 in Plainfield. I'm a big fan of deep dish. Recently, I had Lou's and Gino's East in Chicago. Unfortunately, those aren't in Indy. However, Indy does have a good selection. I need to try Nancy's when my girlfriend comes to town to see what the rave is all about.

Other great Midwestern style pizzas to consider

St Louis style St. Louis-style pizza - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Detroit style Detroit-style pizza - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've had a hard time finding good Chicago-style in Indy but I will be trying Nancy's this weekend, based on the reviews above. To be honest, when I need my fix I just go to Marsh and pick up one of the Gino's East frozen pizzas. Pricey but damn good.

I'm a big pizza fan and have travelled quite a few places for no other reason than to eat the local specialty. St. Louis style is by far the worst of all the styles I've tried. I suppose if one grew up eating nothing but that style they'd defend it but the provel cheese blend is bad enough to turn your stomach. On the other side is Detroit-style, which I believe is the most underrated style in the US. Buddy's Pizza in Detroit is the place to go and you'll never be disappointed. And strangely enough in Austin, TX of all places there is a pizza trailer called Via 313 that also serves up fantastic Detroit pies.

Great...I'm hungry now!
