Denver Cosmopolitan? lol, no. Denver has a lot of positives, but being cosmopolitan is not one of them.

If you're counting homeless people per square mile, I'd agree!

The only thing I can't see Denver winning on is its proximity to other major metros and cost of living.

I'm from Denver and I've been looking at Indianapolis lately and it looks pretty awesome.

I would argue Indy has better weather, Denver is just always too dry and it's way too variable for most plants. Biologically speaking, Colorado isn't that interesting.

Traffic is awful. Denver has a rail, which I use, but any of the interstates are almost guaranteed to be backed up bad.

Downtown Denver is cool, but a lot of the suburbs are rather bland and surprisingly lackluster or they are very expensive. Also there are just hoards of homeless people in Denver. Enough to get annoying.

COL Indy wins hands down.

Job wise they both look good.

And plane tickets are cheap so I could always grab a week off and head back to co for a outdoor fill.

Of course, I know, Coors is in a suburb - the point is it's still one of the main attractions where people go when they visit Denver.

Denver seems like a nice town - excellent if you're a sports fan, down to earth, good weather, excellent outdoor activities all around.

When I think about "cosmopolitan", however, I think of a city that's multi-cultured, diverse and urban. To that extent, Denver didn't seem a whole lot different to me than Indy - and since you're San Francisco, I bet you'd agree with me.
Denver is a bit more upscale than Indy, but you're right - cosmopolitan isn't how I'd describe Denver.

Denver is a very hot market right now - in fact, I think it's one of the top 3-5 hottest real estate markets in the country. There's clearly a reason for this draw and why home values are skyrocketing there. Same with Seattle, as I'm sure you've experienced.

Denver may not be a cosmopolitan town, it may not be in close proximity to other large areas (seriously, is that really a marketing tool for Indy? Come to Indy, we're close to Chicago, St Louis, Louisville and other great cities!) and it might have terrible highway congestion, but what they do have is a bustling economy. In fact, the top growth markets for jobs/sustainable economy are:

1) Denver
2) Houston
3) Grand Rapids, MI
4) Greeley, CO
5) San Francisco
6) San Jose / Silicon Valley
7) Seattle
8) Columbus, IN
9) Boulder, CO
10) Austin

Louisville is #22 and Indy is #48

At least Forbes showed Indy some love. Not at the top of the chart but still Top Ten.
