There are neighborhoods in Bloomington that are relatively student-free. Your best best would be to contact a realtor in the area and get their recommendations. We do have a member here, rrah, who (I think) is a realtor in Bloomington and can give you some good advice. Truthfully, the students aren't all that bad (although the traffic can be a challenge sometimes).
We love Bloomington and if you move here, we hope you love it as much as we do.
Nashville is very nice as well, but quite a bit smaller and you do have to contend with constant tourist traffic there. It's a beautiful little town, though.

and one that doesn't feel the need to publicize it in every thread for a variety of reasons: legal, moral, ethical, personal, etc. etc. etc. Nothing to be ashamed about, but it's just not my style to cram it down people's throats. Nashville is very nice as well, but quite a bit smaller and you do have to contend with constant tourist traffic there. It's a beautiful little town, though.
