Hello! I am considering a move to Nashville/Bloomington area from
Evansville, In. I have visited Brown County many times and love, love
the area, but have some concerns. I get the Democrat sent to my home in Evansville and the schools system seems to be an absolute mess! My daughter is in the 6th grade. So...I have been checking out Bloomington and it is (appears to be?) a cute town...but I DONT want to live near a
ton of college students. Any suggestions anyone?

How about you make the trek up to Fort Wayne! Voted the best city to raise a kid in the United States last year.

NWAC and SWAC are superior schools as well as many private schools and one montessori.

There are neighborhoods in Bloomington that are relatively student-free. Your best best would be to contact a realtor in the area and get their recommendations. We do have a member here, rrah, who (I think) is a realtor in Bloomington and can give you some good advice. Truthfully, the students aren't all that bad (although the traffic can be a challenge sometimes).

We love Bloomington and if you move here, we hope you love it as much as we do. Nashville is very nice as well, but quite a bit smaller and you do have to contend with constant tourist traffic there. It's a beautiful little town, though.

I believe GIW is correct on this one. I'm pretty sure rrah is a realtor. An honest and helpful one, though.

and one that doesn't feel the need to publicize it in every thread for a variety of reasons: legal, moral, ethical, personal, etc. etc. etc. Nothing to be ashamed about, but it's just not my style to cram it down people's throats. (and dang it Grandma, I thought I kept it well hidden. At least domergurl didn't figure it out for a loonnnnggg time. )

Sorry to ruin the secret rrah. You do a good job of not pushing it. It's only come out in maybe 1 or 2 of your posts I've seen, and even then it didn't seem like you were looking to do anything but help the person answer some questions about the area. You're very helpful, and it's much appreciated.
