Hello,
My husband just took a job with a company in Evansville, Indiana. We are looking to live in a safe, friendly area with great schools and were thinking about Newburgh, Indiana. Can anyone provide information about the area or can you suggest another area we should look?

I can't help with most of your questions, but you should be aware that there were several underground coal mines in the Newburgh area. The extent of mining may be unknown as some of the mining activity is quite old. Indiana does have a coal mine subsidence insurance program and any of the local insurance agents should be able to give you more information.

I am not really sure what the mines have to do with anything; but for what it sounds like you are looking for, you will be fine anywhere in Warrick County. Castle (the school that covers Newburgh) schools are strong, and the area is very, very safe.

As far as other areas, northern Vanderburgh County is pretty rural, with a lot of new development. within the city of Evansville, there are a lot of decent areas; it really depends what you are looking for. Reitz on the west side is "supposed" to be the best.

You should be fine in most of Newburgh. I'd be happy to help, if you'd like to send me a direct email. I'm a local realtor.

Congratulations, and best of luck finding a home. This is a great place to live!

I live in Newburgh and i think its a great place to raise a family. Nice homes by the river and random sub-divisions here. It's quiet. I'm from N.W.I. and Newburgh is not as diverse culturally but most people here aren't racist. So its pretty cool. Good luck.

Hi, I live in presently live in Columbus, IN. I was looking at making a move to the small town of Newburgh, IN. My wife and I have school aged children. They are 9, 12, 14, and 16. We both presently work in the Columbus area. One of the main reasons we are leaving is because the rising city water charges. This place is getting to expensive for the average two income household families to afford. Now that you know somewhat about my situation, would Newburgh, In be a good choice?
