There are actually two Monestraries, one is in Ferdinand and one is in St. Meinrad. They are both south of Jasper, Ferdinand being the closest. They have tours there on Saturdays. It's wonderful and a site to behold.

I'm not sure the exact distances from Louisville but these should be close to an hour. French Lick and West Baden Resorts are beautiful and if you haven't checked them out you should. There's also French Lick Winery (not affiliated with the resort). The French Lick Winery doesn't look like much from the outside but they do have a good assortment of wines and free tasting. Next on my list would be Dinner at Schnitzel Bank in Jasper Indiana, they have some great German food and the best salad bar I've found anywhere.

Possibly my favorite attraction in the area is Huber Winery and Orchard in Starlight Indiana. This place is way more than just a winery. They have live entertainment, a cheese and ice cream shop and some very tasty wines. For more on Huber, including some pictures, check out my blog:
