I do not know which middle schools are the best. Sorry. As far as high schools, most of the EVSC schools are fairly comparable. Bosse does contain the more urban areas of Evansville, but with some urban affluence. Aside from that, the other high schools contain slums and affluence. Reitz is a solid school, as is Harrison. North and Central are solid, but they do not have the same rep as the other schools. Castle in Warrick County is also a good school.

EDIT: I forgot about Thompkins Middle School on the north side. It is one of the best in the city. I used to work at the Target near there on First Ave. Good area, albiet somewhat forgotten by most Evansvillians.

I too am past the age of having kids in school, but the EVSC (the school corporation) has a good web presence, so here are a couple of their things which might be useful.

EVSC community link.. sort opf a "what's going on in the school system"
EVSC Community Link Home Page

individual school web pages School And Teacher Web Site Access - Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (http://www.evscschools.com/homepage.aspx - broken link)

This is the link for the Catholic schools

We have lived here for 10 years and my children go to North. It's a nice school. I think it is better than some but then there are some that I wouldn't want my kids to go to. So it's a nice school, in my opinion.

When we moved here 10 years ago, we ended up in adjoining Newburgh. While there are good and bad with the Evansville schools, I can't say enough about the Castle district.

They are a little crowded with all the growth, but a 2nd Junior High is currently under construction.

I attended Bosse my freshman year and I loved it, although some people (not me) would say it is in kind of a "ghetto" area. I don't really know much about the other two.
