Hello all,
There is a 90% chance I'll be moving to Evansville within the next month or so. I've searched the threads and am thinking that the East side is where I'd want to move my family but I need a few specifics so here's my info. Small family, 2 boys 6 and 3 years old. I'm just mainly looking for info on elementary schools in the area, and diversity. We are an interracial couple, and I'm not sensitive to stuff like that but I do want my kids in a somewhat diverse environment so they don't stick out like a sore thumb. Also, I'm looking to rent a nice single family home, townhome, or duplex for hopefully under a $1,000 in a low crime area that is safe for the wife and kids for outside walks and play. All of that hopefully in a good school district. Hopefully that's realistic. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In my research and experience with Evansville, I have found that Harper Elementary has the best combo of diversity, quality, and safety (in my opinion). I know a couple of families that send their kids to Harper, they are generally happy. If I lived in Evansville, I would have no qualms sending my kids there. Harper feeds into Washington Middle and Bosse High School. That tends to me where more people have reservations long term since some of the other Bosse feeders are distressed. Hebron is another one to look at, a little further east. It feeds into Harrison, which some view as the school of choice on the east side of Evansville.

I don't live in Evansville anymore, but I don't think we have many regulars that are familiar with Evansville. I visit frequently and have a lot of family and friends in the area. Hope that helps.
