I could say "I don't go to bars because of the smoke".

But fact is, even if there wasn't any smoking in bars, I still wouldn't go. So it doesn't affect me at all.

Then why the hell did they push so emphatically to make them all non-smoking? What business was it of theirs if they weren't going to patronize them anyway?

God I hate Smoke Nazis. (Not saying you are one, BTW...)

Maybe some bars in some areas are doing better (I'll wait and see if there's any proof of this) but a casino? I mean come on... have any of these anti-smokers ever been to a casino? Everybody smokes there! No wonder they're doing poorly. That shouldn't really have taken a rocket scientist to figure out that that would be the case.

Missouri is still a very smoker-friendly state (hell cigarette taxes are only 27 cents a pack and they've failed pushing through increases to that twice in the last like 10 years) so Alton's proximity to that couldn't help but hurt them!

St. Louis also has the new Lumiere as well, which I'm sure didn't help Alton.

Apparently Fast Eddie's in Alton is building an outdoor garden/closed pavilion for smokers.

Packs are less than $3.75 anywhere in Missouri. Walgreen's always had Marlboros for more around $3.40. About $27 for a carton. Don't know about the IL side tho.
