Anyone living in the Harlem school or Roscoe district have feedback of the school systems? Looking into moving into Machesney (off 251 / Perryville) or into Roscoe....

When my daughter lived in that area they were in Loves Park, children went to Roscoe School district. That was a good area and they liked living there.

GreatSchools.net is a good website to look up info on the schools you are interested in.

Thumbs down Harlem vs Roscoe Schools

Roscoe is good until you leave Stone Creek and Ledgewood. Kinnikinnick is the oldest school, and is a dump, and landlocked. The middle school is less than 10 years old. Hononegah High School is bursting at the seems again. They just aquired land and are in planning stages for new school. They will have a tough time EVER passing another referendum after teacher's strike in '03. If they do, taxes will make home ownership costly. Harlem is a good district. Many problems have risen at Hononegah in recent years due to growth and transfer of people from bigger cities. Until 15 years ago, it was still small town, country school atmosphere for the most part. I'd stay out of Roscoe/Rockton, if it were me. It was the lesser of evils when I moved here, but would not move here if I were buting today.
