Hello everybody, my husband got a job in Chicago, we live in ny right now and we have to move to Chicago, I have two young kids one has to go to 7grade and my other one is 18. Can you guys orient me which place is good?

There are many lovely neighborhoods inside the City of Chicago however if you need to send your children to school the difficulty of needing to find a home served by the rare acceptably performing Chicago Public School almost certainly is reason enough to consider one of the many desirably areas outside the city limits.

The range of suburbans that offer amenities traditionally associated with cities extends 20 miles or more from the city limits. If you are used to NYC prices your housing dollar will likely go farther here, but only a little -- depending on what trade-offs you are willing to accept a family sized home in a decent area served by desirable schools are hard to find below $350k... If you want things like "walk-to-train" convenience and a larger home you can raise that floor by a few hundred grand.
