Better make sure you get a veto proof bill - I'm sure Patrick will veto if he can.

Mass. Senate passes crackdown on illegal immigrants - Local News Updates - MetroDesk - The Boston Globe

Quote:
The measure, which passed on a 28-10 vote as an amendment to the budget, would bar the state from doing business with any company found to break federal laws barring illegal immigrant hiring. It would also toughen penalties for creating or using fake identification documents, and explicitly deny in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants.

The amendment would also require the state’s public health insurance program to verify residency through the Department of Homeland Security, and would require the state to give legal residents priority for subsidized housing.
Good news indeed. Hopefully, Arizona is setting a trend.

Let the illegals make their way to California.

Seems democrats weren't too happy with the bill...but then they got a look at a poll that said 84% of left-leaning Ma voters were in favor.

Of course they then lost all their outrageous outrage and capitulated.

If you watch the video (http://www.necn.com/05/27/10/Mass-mo...56&feedID=4215), you will hear what the opponent of the bill has to say. She says "I just feel that if you educate a population, it's going to be a benefit to everybody, there will be less drain on our resources."

Really? How can someone in such a position of power (lawmaker) vote against this bill with such an ignorant comment? It won't be a less drain on our resources to go ahead and educate illegal immigrants. What makes illegal immigrants less costly than our own students? Also, educating illegal immigrants DOES cause a drain on our resources, most are in the povery levels and receive free or reduced lunch and just the fact that they are extra people to educate puts a drain on a resource. So, what a dumb thing for her to say, what numbers has she been looking at? It just bothers me that people who are in the position to change our country for the better are so blind or lacking enough perspective to see what is really going on. She wants to educate people that shouldn't even be here at the cost of legal residents. I'm sure that "benefits everyone." Just how? Also, you got legal residents here, children, that are educated in our education system and they all don't go on to be out of poverty. So, what makes her think that illegal immigrants will be any different? What traitor-like behavior that is.

So when is the Messiah going to come out and castigate Mass for their "racist" laws?

Something was passed yesterday here in MA. I'm not sure what it entails but I heard late last night that there was a turnaround vote. It's Good! Arizona had to go too far with their law but at least it got things started in the rest of the country.
I saw on tv that they arrested a bunch of dept of motor vehicles employees who were in cahoots with the police in issuing drivers licenses for people with fraudulent ids. This was in New Hampshire. It's about time!

Patrick Kennedy is a complete waste of DNA in my opinion. He seems to be wandering a little lost without Uncle Teddy to prop him up. What a moron.

Highlights of the
Senate amendment

▸ Requires state contractors to verify the citizenship status of all employees.
▸ Increases the penalties for driving without a license and for using false identification.
▸ Establishes a 24-hour toll-free telephone hot line for confidential reporting of unlawful employment of unauthorized immigrants.
▸ Requires MassHealth to verify the immigration status of enrollees.
▸ Requires state courts to verify the immigration status of any criminal defendant.
▸ Prevents illegal immigrants from displacing legal immigrants and citizens from public housing.

IT STILL COULD BE VETOED BUT AT LEAST IT'S A START!

Looks like Holder will have many states to sue now. No wonder Obama looked like he was seasick.

This has nothing to do with Patrick Kennedy. Our MA governor is DEVAL PATRICK--that's who they're talking about. I agree with gov. Patrick on almost everything, but not illegal immigration. I want to see him re-elected but he's getting the blame for budget cuts due to the economy. Now if he's only change his opinion on illegal immigrants I think he'd win the election in the fall.
