So we are safe to assume that the reason that American citizens aren't asked about their legal status for the census is because left wing radical amnesty progressive democratic politicians in control of Congress right up until the Nov elections won't allow it?
Asking a Hispanic about ther legal status is considered racist in today's politically correct America. I remember there was a discussion abouut this in another debate forum where a Hispanic female poster said "Why should the government have the right to ask me about my legal status, what because I do not look like White bread Marcia Brady, you automatically assume that I am an illegal immigrant".

I just wanted to say that today I was in one of my local libraries and I was reading the local Spanish newspaper. Well, I noticed one of the headings was about how ICE raids are causing people to not want to fill out the Census form. I then read further and one point that the column presented was that it is unfair that "important federal funds are at risk." Well, I have a problem with that. I continue to be baffled at how these groups and individuals feel as though illegal immigrants and the illegal immigrant population are owed these federal funds and are somehow entitled to them. This is the United States of America. This is not the country that you illegally entered from. If anyone is entitled to those federal funds it is the people of this country who are here legally, whether they were fortunate to be born in this country or fortunate to be here legally and without having to worry about being raided. So, to see this continued cry out about "federal funds" when talking about illegal immigrants, I can't understand.

Another thing is the whole mentioning of raids, how people are scared and how that fear will jeopardize federal funds. First of all, if you are here legally, then who is afraid of filling out a form? Are you representing illegal and undocumented immigrants? Is that what this is? That's what it seems to be. With that said, do these people who write these things not get the point that the illegal immigrants that they are crying for have no legal right to those "funds?" So, once again, it is disturbing that the people at these rallies and who write these articles continue to connect illegal immigrants to "federal funds." Do these people really think it is OK to demand federal funds that aren't even owed to them? That's the thing ... they are some very arrogant and disrespectful people. I'll be damned if some millions of illegal immigrants can come into the country and start demanding what is not even theirs. We are struggling in this country enough as it is.

Yes, the fear of coming off as racist or discriminatory is what is protecting illegal immigrants. Once the federal and state governments realize that this is about rights and injustice on behalf of legal residents then they can start having some backbone and doing what is right.

Good. Maybe a young legal, low-skilled or part-time-working resident can take a job and the illegal immigrant can make their way to the back of the line.
