As far as “immigration reform” is concerned, there is one major question no one has asked: Why citizenship? Why not “green cards”?

I believe the only reason Democrats and pro-illegal groups want the former is for cheap votes. A green card would accomplish the exact same thing, while allowing for deportation of the “bad actors” sure to be caught in such a large net.
Letter: Why citizenship for illegals? Better options are available : Letters : TCPalm

Bingo!

In addition, it furthers the ethnocentrictic groups' agendas and it satisfies the illegal alien employers who want as much cheap illegal labor as possible.

Quite odd considering that the US Chamber of Commerce and the NCLR were involved in giving their advice to the pro-amnesty senators when it came to drafting the failed 2007 shamnesty bill.

This oppinion does not come from a very well informed individual. Unless I have completely misread the CIR bill.

The path to citizenship/ amnesty(as some people like to call it) that this guy refers to in the question why "citizenship" not "green cards" is really not the case.

The CIR will enable people to get Legal Permanent Residency (Green Cards). and then under current law, any permanent resident after 5 years of being a permanent resident can apply to be a citizen.

What this guy is promoting is what CIR would do. Give green cards to illegal aliens.

Antireconquista, from the post you seem to agree with this guy. If you do, then you should also agree with the CIR since they are both preaching the same thing. Green cards for illegal immigrants.

LOL. I don't agree with granting either to criminals. I also opposed the 2007 shamnesty bill and every other shamnesty bill prior.

What I agree with is that pro-illegals and their cronies want citizenship for the illegals in order to cash in on a politically Democratic jackpot.

I do not even support giving them green cards. A green card is a privilege. Illegals do not deserve any privilege except maybe a nice cold drink to sip on the bus on the way HOME.

They could have applied for a green card in the first place if that's what they wanted but they don't believe they must respect the laws.

Leave them illegal. That's the choice they made, and handing them legality on a silver platter defeats the whole argument that we need cheap illegal labor.

If we need illegal labor to pick the lettuce and keep it cheap (yeah right) then what good does making them legal do us? Then they'll think they're too good to pick lettuce and we'd have to start all over finding less arrogant workers.
