Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Thursday that he would like the Senate to pass comprehensive immigration reform this year, adding another huge project to Democrats' already packed schedule for 2009.

“As far as I’m concerned, we have three major issues we have to do this year, if at all possible: No. 1 is healthcare; No 2 is energy, global warming; No. 3 is immigration reform,” Reid said.

The man is an idiot. All major players in congress are paid and controlled by the health insurance industry, so who the hell is he fooling. Screw the global warming scam. Drill and throw the illegals out so California can balance their books. Enough said.

It appears Mr. Reid made similar promises in 2007. Thus, it really doesn’t matter what he “vows.”

Quote:
Washington -- When the new 110th Congress convened January 4, the Senate leadership made a bipartisan commitment to tackle comprehensive immigration reform, picking up a theme sounded by President Bush in May 2006.

Harry Reid, a Democrat from Nevada and the new Senate majority leader, announced immigration reform is one of his party’s top 10 legislative priorities in this Congress. “Our borders remain unsecured,” said Reid in his first speech to the Senate January 4. “Our laws remain underenforced. And we have 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the shadows.”

I agree. The status quo is no longer acceptable, nor will it continue to be tolerated. However, amnesty is not an option the citizens of this country will support today, anymore than we supported it in 2007. It’s time to stop playing games, and enforce our laws. Illegals WILL leave -- one way or another. It’s time to take off the pandering gloves, and rid our country of this scourge. The party is over.

As you said, Reid is an idiot. He's also up for reelection and is in trouble. Apparently a lot of his constituents feel that he's an idiot also. Not to worry, Maobama is going to help campaign for him. Oh and the blatant hispandering is, of course, merely to keep the Latino vote.

Wasn't the same plan back in 2007, when CIR was blocked?

Default The Term "Immigration Reform" sounds all warm and fuzzy!

Everyone should support the concept of immigration reform. It sounds like a good plan and everyone likes reform in an area that is troubled. Yes lets make our immigration system better.

Now comes the hard part, the details. Don't they say the devil is in the details. As soon as the public hears what the Congress is planning and hears that the current illegal aliens are going to get a chance to stay legally without any additional border controls or visa reform then people will change their mind and fight it tooth and nail.

Reid, Pelosi (Mrs. piggy) and that old drunk Edward Kennedy don't need to worry about details . Don't think the Devil wants them either because even Satan avoids democrats.

Besides all that, even the "prince of darkness" is for sealing the border.
