The assumption that the Republicans who used illegal immigration as a "wedge issue" lost because of that strategy lacks the reality of the times. It is no surprise that when the economy is reeling, the incumbent party will take a big hit.
It is very surprising that Arizona's largest newspaper omits the overwhelmingly support for measures making illegal aliens non-bondable, preventing them from getting public dollars for higher education and the employer-sanctions law.
Lastly, the wave of illegal immigration has fueled the drug traffic from Mexico (the source of almost all cocaine and methamphetamine) into the U.S. The distribution network of couriers, stash-house operators and sellers is made up of illegal immigrants from Mexico.
Illegal migrants bring array of woes
