The nation’s capital is joining a frenzy of heavily Democratic cities spending millions of dollars to prevent President-elect Donald Trump from fulfilling his central campaign promise to deport illegal immigrants.
D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) on Monday will announce plans to award grants to defense lawyers and nonprofit organizations to represent any of the District’s estimated 25,000 illegal immigrants who are faced with deportation.
In the District, Bowser will launch the initiative by directing $500,000 from her office budget to a new Immigrant Justice Legal Services Grant Program. Nonprofits, private organizations, associations and law firms in Washington will all be eligible to win the grant money. Groups can begin applying Jan. 23, the first Monday Trump will be in the White House.
I can't imagine any taxpaying citizen thinking this is a good use of their tax dollars. but this is DC, so...
how much do you want to bet that they won't expend so much as a penny helping actual, legal immigrants trying to gain legal residence and citizenship the hard [i.e., legal] way?
They are being sneaky. They know less people would support it if they said undocumented or illegal immigrants they are just saying immigrant.

We don't need to spend a penny hiring lawyers for illegals!

I saw recently in Los Angeles that several Black Americans were protesting against the local government being so sympathetic to illegals.
They are being sneaky. They know less people would support it if they said undocumented or illegal immigrants they are just saying immigrant.

Good for them. If more black Americans joined us in this fight we'd make some real progress on this issue.
It's totally groupthink with all these cities jumping on the bandwagon of protecting illegals or declaring their cities 'sanctuary cities'.
Similar to the $15 minimum wage law. They don't actually consider if it's a good idea for their city or not they just do it because it's the cool new thing to do.

Word is many; NOT "all", American Blacks are so racist against at least light skin white people they'd rather have at least darker skin illegal aliens around as a big "FU".
IMHO; if most illegals were pasty white skin white, many MORE Black people would be pissed at their kind being in the US.
Each state/city gets most of its revenue from its taxpayers. DC gets most of its money from the federal government. Federal government, ALL U.S. tax payer dollars. So when the DC mayor starts spending the $500,000 to defend illegal aliens, think about how your tax money is being spent.
Cut off federal funds. That's all that needs to be done. This sanctuary city BS will come to a quick stop.
