The Department of Homeland Security is planning to issue a policy memo stating that illegal immigrants with American same-sex partners are eligible to have their deportations put on hold under a federal program designed to focus resources away from low-priority cases.
The instructions do not mean that foreigners who are married to Americans of the same sex will be eligible for green cards or citizenship, as are immigrants with opposite sex spouses. The Obama administration is continuing to enforce a 1996 law that prohibits the government from recognizing same-sex marriages, even as it opposes it in court and takes gay relationships into account when evaluating deportation cases.
On one hand, Obama says he supports same-sex marriage. On the other hand, his policy does not recognize same-sex marriage for immigration purposes. I guess this is his DACA for gays. Throw them a bone, and they'll support him in November.
Little by little. What group of illegal aliens will be allowed to stay, and given work permits, next? Fathers with young children? Women with anchor babies? Teenagers who promise to give up their gang activities? People over 65? (although these would probably be given Social Security in place of a work permit). Anyone married to a citizen? The possibilities are endless.

Let's not forget illegals with pets. Apparently, if you're here illegally, Obama will find a way to grant deferred action. Anything for votes.

It is a piecemeal amnesty for every illegal immigrant unless they are a convicted felon. Unbelievable!
There are work qualifications for Social Security benefits...
Older
illegal aliens can file for Cancellation of Removal if they have lived here long enough...
Illegal aliens married to U.S. citizens can have their spouse try an I-601 waiver, although there are no guarantees...
Not so fast, IBM. It depends on the type of SS benefit. There may be work requirements to collect Social Security, but there are no such requirements to collect SSI (Supplemental Security Income), both are programs administered by the Social Security Administration.
In fact, many non-citizens, including illegal aliens, receive SSI without ever having worked a day in this country, or contributed one dime in taxes. And, you can bet millions of illegals are taking advantage of this. That's one reason they are so anxious to get their elderly relatives in this country. They know they can come here and U.S. taxpayers will support them. It's just one of many scams used by illegals.

The permanent residence under color of law (PRUCOL) provision applies to supplemental security income (SSI) applicants or recipients. It is not a factor in benefits under title II. PRUCOL applies to individuals who are neither U.S. citizens nor aliens lawfully admitted for permanent residence; i.e., aliens who entered the United States (U.S.) either:
Lawfully in a status other than lawful permanent residence; or
There are seven categories of non–citizens who are qualified aliens. You are a "qualified alien" if the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says you are in one of these categories:
1. Lawfully Admitted for Permanent Residence (LAPR) in the U.S., including "Amerasian immigrant" as defined in Section 584 of the Foreign Operations, Export Financing and Related Programs Appropriations Act of 1988, as amended;
2. Granted conditional entry under Section 203(a)(7)of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) as in effect before April 1, 1980;
3. Paroled into the U.S. under Section 212(d)(5) of the INA for a period of at least one year;
4. Refugee admitted to the U.S. under Section 207 of the INA;
5. Granted asylum under Section 208 of the INA;
6. Deportation is being withheld under Section 243(h) of the INA as in effect before April 1, 1997, or removal is being withheld under Section 241(b)(3) of the INA;
7. “Cuban or Haitian entrant†under Section 501(e) of the Refugee Education Assistance Act of 1980 or in a status that is to be treated as a “Cuban/Haitian entrant†for SSI purposes.
In addition, you can be a “deemed qualified alien†if, under certain circumstances, you, your child, or your parent has been subjected to battery or extreme cruelty by a family member while in the United States.

I assume you know the meaning of unlawfully. If not, it means illegal aliens.

You are exactly right. There is a little very simple trick used by those sponsoring elderly relatives. They claim to hire them as household help and pay in a very minimal social security tax to secure a nice big American social security check for them. Abuelita (granny) can be hired as a babysitter and voila -- she wins a social security check.
But the other very often used trick is to have a low-income family member sponsor the immigrants. Sponsors are not expected to actually support their immigrants, they simply have their income added in with the immigrant's income when applying for means-tested government programs. If the sponsor makes $15,000 a year and the immigrant makes $0 and is too old to work, then it's a disability check plus Section 8, plus food stamps, Medicaid.

No wonder this country is going bankrupt. Not that this is the only financial problem that we have but we should be eliminating all the waste in our spending including shams such as the above.
