"This plan which Newt Gingrich is proposing is a TROJAN HORSE. Newt was in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens when the Reagan administration made the costly mistake of giving amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.
Ronald Reagan thought he was doing the humanitarian thing. But we have the benefit of learning from Ronald Reagan’s mistake since we know that providing amnesty to millions of illegal aliens only brings millions more illegal aliens to the country."
So give amnesty to the illegal aliens currently here and secure the borders.
Simple, problem solved.
No matter how "secure" the borders are, people can find a way to get here if they want.
If we give amnesty now, that'll just pave the way for the next amnesty. The 1986 amnesty encouraged illegal immigration because people came to the country thinking it would happen again.
Not to mention, even if we were able to stop additional illegal immigration, the ones who are already here are causing plenty of problems of their own. They should not be allowed to stay.

Sorry no, we would have bigger problems than we have now. Since most illegals are poor they would be able to tap into our welfare system if they aren't doing so already via their anchor babies. Since jobs are scarce we don't need the added competition for jobs. Since the 1986 amnesty it was proven that rewarding immigration law breakers just brings more illegals into our country. We don't need the added population growth added permanantly to our country. Our resources are already being stretched thin. They need to go back to their homelands where they belong and protest their own governments.
