If Joe Illegal swims across the river to and somehow gets a job at McDonalds using a fake social security card and other false identy papers, what is his next step? Maybe even someone who has lived illegally in America for years.
Does he open a bank account under his fake name? Does he apply for credit cards? What happens when he tries to rent an apartment and they ask for ID or the rental agent does a background check? Just how much in the shadows do they live? Especially long term illegals.
I would like to know more about the day to day offical interactions of an illegal alien.
Certain parts of West Phoenix and Glendale are where these illegals fit in well. Strip malls signs are all in spanish, and the big business is the check cashing place (where you don't need a checking account or an official US ID to cash a check, a mexican voter ID card works). The other big business you see is the mexican supermarkets.
The illegals around here don't really need to live in the shadows because its been set up for them as a little slice of home!
Same with Houston although they deny being a sanctuary city. Bank of America was notorious for giving loans to illegals. So many that it was named as being a huge part of the real estate bubble that has burst. I no longer use BOA in any of my dealings if it can be avoided.

I used to work in banking and you can open an savings account at most banks with a conseular ID which caters to a lot of illegals and a foreign passport.
The news pretty much pegged it at 5 million that bought homes with fake docs during the height of the RE boom.
and that included legals who with the matricula consular as ID managed to weasel into loans with the assistance of the bent realtors and brokers eager for their commissions.......stories of $9 an hour workers getting $0 down loans for $615k homes (course that became yet another poor mistreated migrant sob story when he went into foreclosure).
Remember this little gem published just before WaMu went south?

You're in Maryland, right? There was some rally I saw in Baltimore on the news recently too - illegals advocates and supporters protesting LEOs asking for immigration status.
Seems there's more and more one set of rules for them and another for everyone else.
