Why not just put a person's citizenship status with their DL. You get pulled over and the LEIN comes back that you are illegal end of story. Those who over stay their visa would come back with an expired status, etc.
I have a concealed pistol license and that comes up in the LEIN. And if I fail to disclose my pistol it is an infraction. Hell, you can't even go fishing without a license. All this racial profiling stuff is a moot point.
Now, what to do with the millions of illegals living here is a whole other subject. I have to believe some form of grandfather clause is the only practical solution.
You can be in the country legally while a citizen of a different country.
And your legal immigration status can be changing over time which makes
your idea difficult to implement.
Plus, Illegals have shown they can create a crime no matter how hard we try and deter them through the use of identity theft and bogus documents. It's kind of like a tape worm that eventually kills the host.
