Everyone knows at least one 'this-is-an-armpit' and an 'I could live here forever' place in Idaho. Which is yours?

I miss Ashton and the Targhee Forest up there. Arco would have to be the place to skip, IMHO

boise is the best...anywhere in canyon county (nampa-caldwell) is the worst...suburbia, highest crime in Idaho, no originality, miserable commute to Boise where most of them work. I also lived in Pocatello for 6 years. HORRIBLE place, but I'd rather be there than canyon county.

Can you please tell me what was horrible about Pocatello? And also what was miserable about the commute to Boise from Canyon County.

Thanks!

If you like lots of people and big cities the Boise valley is one of the best areas. It consistently rates high on the best places to live surveys. Central and North Idaho is the most spectacular area of the state. I could live in the panhandle and completely forget southeast Idaho exists. I'll probably do just that when I retire.

Caldwell?? Are you serious? I won't even stop for gas there.

There is nothing wrong with Caldwell. I don't get it. Nampa is much worse than Caldwell.....read the paper today. Another whack-o-.
If you drive down Eagle road watch out for those idiot "soccer moms" driving those urban tanks. Eagle is "little Eaglfornia".
Soooo glad to live in Caldwell, and not Garden City....eeewwwww!

I agree with you on the Garden City thing!! We have to go through there to the Equine Expo every yr and it sucks. The traffic is horrible and some of the drivers and very scary!
