Hi.
I'm coming over and up to Idaho this April to visit a friend in Ketchum. I usually stay in Ketchum but this time i want to avoid it. I don't know if anyone is familiar with Ketchum / Sun Valley but i have a love / hate relationship with it (i hate what's happened to it re; the development and the ilk of people there now) and i thought i'd do something different and spend my time (a week or two) in Stanley.
I don't want to stay in Hailey or Bellevue either.
Does anyone know, first hand, of a good and affordable place to stay in Stanley that will allow a dog? I don't need fancy .... just safe and clean and ideally friendly but that's not a requirement.
Thanks.

We stayed at Danner's Log Cabins a few years ago. The location is superb, within walking distance of restaurants and the market, and I remember it as a nice, clean place. Reasonably priced, a cabin with 1 full bed: $85. We didn't bring our dog at the time, but I remember seeing other visitors with dogs out front at the picnic area. I just checked the website, and they're pet friendly, $10 per dog per night. They also have a Facebook page.

Still winter up there in April! But you probably know that. Have a great time!

Check out VRBO/HomeAway or AirBNB. I've had good luck finding places for longer stays with both of them, and you generally get better deals than you'd get in a hotel. You can message the rental owners about pets.

Oh yes. It's funny because i stayed in an airbnb in Ketchum awhile back and i didn't even think to check Stanley for an airbnb or vrbo. But i'll do that too. I just need some real privacy ie; no interpersonal / social interactions, etc., so i don't want to stay in a room in someone's house or be in a separate dwelling if it's too close to the main property.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I will now go and explore both.

Don't overlook Clayton or Sunbeam. Both are tiny, but they may have a cabin or two for rent, and both aren't much farther away than Stanley from Ketchum.

You might want to check out my old pal Muzzie Braun's B&B; it's 5 miles uphill on the Yankee Fork, just east of Clayton, and has plenty of privacy and quiet. I'm sure Muzz allows dogs. Its called The White Cloud Mountain Inn.

I don't know if he has a phone yet; he didn't have electricity up there for decades, but has now, and he and his wife JoAnn are wonderful people. Muzz built the home himself, and after all their boys grew up, enlarged their house to make the inn.

Here's a website:
White Cloud Mountain Inn Clayton Bed and Breakfast Accommodation Detailed Information

The best way to contact him is to write to the P.O. box address. Muzz is an Idaho musician of some reknown, and is mostly retired now. The B&B gives him and his wife something to do. If you stay there, you'll be eating home-canned vegetables out of JoAnn's garden; she's famous in her own way for that garden and her cooking.

Tell him Mike the banjo player sent ya.

I would love to do that at some point! But not now. As much as i love to be away from everything (i live semi-offgrid in the coastal redwoods) at this time i need to be able to communicate a bit at least by phone.
But i won't forget your post or the White Cloud Mountain Inn or your name! Wonderful.
Thank you.
