They surpassed Honda in worldwide sales. I thought that would never happen. I guess hell is snowwing!

I don't think it's all that surprising, technology is readily avaiable and there's no shortage of (relatively) low-cost labor in S Korea. I'd say it's a safe bet that within 25 years, probably well within 25 years, there'll be a Chinese and/or Indian manufacturer in the top 5.

Don't forget, people have laughed at the early efforts of BMW, Honda, Hyundai, etc., etc., etc..................................

They make good quality cars that are usually cheaper vs the comparible Honda and Toyota. They were among the first to give the 10/100,000 warranty.

From what I hear they don't honor that 10/100k warranty very well.

I thought its cheaper to build cars in America than Korea. Isn't that why Hyundai and Kia both build cars in America? Anyway, not suprising at all, they make decent cars now.

I'm not surprised...you pay a premium for a Honda to begin with, plus people like cheap cars, and Hyundai quality has gone up with a longer warranty. Also, they seem popular in car rental fleets, so that may add to the numbers.

I've owned 2 and had no problems. As a former GM service manager, I can tell you the dealer you are working with makes a huge difference.

They do indeed build cars in America but they have also become a component source to Japanese manufacturers with foundries and other plants in S Korea.
